A chance to perform for your family and friends will be provided at the RFA’s annual Members’ Recital on Sunday, June 13, 2010. The program will take place at Chestnut Court in the St. John’s Meadows complex located at 1 Johnsarbor Drive West, Rochester and will begin at 3:00 P.M.
The recital will include soloists, small ensembles, and the RFA Flute Choir. All RFA members are invited to participate. All soloists must currently be RFA members. Ensembles of multiple flutes or flute combined with other instruments are all welcome to perform provided that at least one member of the ensemble is currently an RFA member. A piano will be provided, but performers must supply their own accompanists.
For participants, this event provides a valuable opportunity to gain performance experience. Audience members will enjoy the high level of music-making this program has traditionally displayed and perhaps hear some new and exciting repertoire. Teachers are urged to encourage their students to try out a piece they’ve been working on together.
Those interested in playing in the recital should notify Phil Nash by email at psnash@rochester.rr.com or by phone at (585) 586-2490 by June 1. Please provide your email address and phone number, the names of all performers as you would want them to appear in the program, the name and composer of the piece to be performed, and the approximate length of the piece. Depending on the number of interested performers, we may possibly need to limit the playing time of each participant.
PLEASE NOTE: There seems to be some question as to the correct location for the annual RFA Members' Recital, which will take place this Sunday, June 13, at 3:00. It will be at St. John's Meadows (a retirement complex), NOT at St. John's Nursing Home. To reach the recital location, take Elmwood Ave. to Johnsarbor Dr. This runs south from Elmwood about half way between South Ave. and South Clinton Ave. Turn onto Johnsarbor Dr. and follow the signs for Chestnut Court, the building where the recital will take place.
